January Update (Lily 12, Clara 10)

It's very picturesque at our house right now with several inches of snow. I'm not sure why when doctors talk about all the milestone that your kids are supposed to hit they only focus on walking and talking. For me the much more important milestones are ones like can they climb up giant inflatable slides by themself, can they wipe their own butt and can they make it to the bathroom before they throw up. Today I'm enjoying that wonderful milestone of a quiet house because the girls got themselves ready to go play in the snow without any help from me. Actually.....nope they're back it's really cold outside. Well it was nice when it lasted.

Lily Update:

Lily's had a very busy month with a 2 major things happening. After she had a tooth removed (her last adult tooth to come in was trying to come through the roof of her mout she had extreme pain in her front teeth. After many xrays and appointments it was recommended that she have a root canal on 2 of her front teeth. She did great during the procedure even though she 1)tried to karate kick me, 2) told me she was a "Karen" and "stop filming me" and 3) said she needed to recheck her glassses perscription (she wasn't wearing her glasses.....all while on laughing gas. Her other big thing that happened this month was that she tried out scuba diving. She absolutely loved it and is going to take a class this summer that will get her certified to dive up to 30 feet.

Clara Update:

Things have been a little less exciting for Clara this month. She learned how to play backgammon and consistantly kicks my butt when we play. So far she has enjoyed basketball (although she would prefer not to go to practices) even though we've missed the last two games due to ice and snow. Clara still loves to play the VR headset and go to different worlds. From what I can tell her favorites are a water park,  a trampoline park and occasionally a McDonalds.

Penny Update:

Penny enjoys the finer things in life....a pet heating pad on her bed, randomly barking to keep up on high alert and water in any form except when it comes out of a faucet. Her perfect day includes digging up my backyard, doing zoomies around the house and begging Lily for food. She loves the dog park and playing with the neighbor's dogs.

December Update (Lily 12, Clara 10)

This the season....the season of baby gates around the Christmas tree, the season of the dog barking at the inflatables in the front yard every night, the season of ugly christmas sweaters and cousing antics and tis the season that I need a nap to recover from. The girls we happy to finish the fall semester of school and get to sleep in for a few weeks. The went on a trip to Nashville to see the Gaylord Opryland hotel, go snow tubing and see ice sculptures with Nana, Pop and some of their cousins. They also started practices for baskeball. I am thankful that their practices are a 5 minute drive from eachother and both teams are using the same app to communicate with the parents.....it's a Christmas miracle.

Lily's December Update:

Lily's big news this month was that she has oral surgery right before Christmas. I asked her permission to film her if she said anything silly. Other than claiming that the nurses "hated her" (they didn't) and accusing them of stealing her lips (they didn't) she sobbed the entire car ride home and told me I was lying about taking her home (I wasn't). After a nap....which could more accuratly be called a coma since she didn't move for 4 hours. She awoke in a much better mood with mouth un-numb and her lips back in their propper place. For Christmas Lily asked for a trip to the beach, no more school and some cool ranch doritoes. She got a trip to the beach (she gets to help plan it), Wednesday Legos, new PJs and a VR headset (shared between the 2 girls).

Clara's December Update

This month Clara got to bring a friend to see the Nutcracker (Lily opted to stay home with a sore mouth). The both like the arabian dance and the russian dance the best from the Nutcracker. This Christmas Clara asked for a "new" ipad (the one she was using belonged to Andy and was really struggling to hold a charge). She got a newer Ipad, legos and the VR headset. After Christmas Clara went on a trip to Memphis with my parents (Lily opted to stay home for some quiet time). She said her favoritie thing to do was rock climbing and make oreo truffles with her cousins.

Penny is was very suspicious of the Christmas tree
