September (Lily 3, Clara 21 months)

Lily's September update:

September has come and gone. It brought with it tailgating, football and slightly cooler weather. This month Lily has gotten a lot more daring at gymnastics doing front flips around the uneven bars and cannonballs into the foam pit. She is still incredibly sassy and always wants the last word in an argument (internals muttering: I am the adult here....don't take the bait). She has seen the movie Hercules and now wants to be Hercules (aka she walks around holding things over her head to show me how strong she is). I asker her this month and asked her want she wanted from Santa and she said "a hug".....great how do I gift wrap that?

Loves:
-cats
-puzzles
-cannonballs and belly flops (into the foam pits at gymnastics)
-temporary tattoos
-Disney's Hercules
-enclosed twisty slides (she didn't like them until this month)

Hates:
-bedtime

What Lily's been saying:
-Me (whisper) "Lily I love you"
Lily (whisper) "Mommy.......you're stinky"

Clara's May update:

Clara is always right behind Lily. We have to remind Lily daily that if she tries to do something dangerous that Clara will try it and will probably get hurt. Clara loves to play with her baby dolls and bags/ backpacks. She loves books about trucks and cars and Winnie the Pooh. She very much wants all her people to be in the same place and doesn't like it when someone goes upstairs. She has learned to put on her own shoes (sometimes and they're almost always on the wrong feet) and wash her hands (with a little help). She's starting to tell me when her diaper is dirty or wet and wants me to change her (potty training is just around the corner).

Loves:
-popcorn
-Smokey
-her cousin Henry
-UT band
-taking turns
-pop up playhouse
-stuffed animals
-baby dolls

Hates:
-getting her diaper changed

What Clara's been saying:
necklace= "geckis"
ben= "band"
Gols= "Vols"

Favorite books:
Green Eggs and Ham

At the end of August/ beginning of September we went on a little family getaway to Cincinnati, OH. On our first day we went to EnterTrainment Junction where we discovered that Clara LOVES trains. They had a massive model train display, playground, funhouse and outdoor train ride. It was a hit.

Clara loves herself

Funhouse fun

Every vacation day ends in a meltdown (Day 1)

After heading back to the Airbnb house we were staying at we went downtown to get dinner then across the street to a Reds baseball game.
Lily does yoga in the park

of course we had to get ice cream before we left

The morning of day 2 we went to the Cincinnati Zoo. It was really hot but the girls did great. There was SO much to see that we didn't get to see everything before it was time to go home.

Hey Pop they were picking up some beekeeping tips for you

In case you were wondering Lily and Clara
combined weight in insects

Day 2 meltdown

After nap we went to Washington Park to play at their awesome playground and fountain.

The morning of day 3 was spent at the children's museum. The girls had so much fun and we were impressed with how big it was.

Clara spent a good 20-30 minutes in the nursery
room taking care of the baby dolls
 Meltdown day 3

Day 3 was rainy and cold so we only briefly ventured out downtown to the carousel.
We were the only people on the carousel so Lily
got her choice of any animal.......or insect

Lily kissed this bee before we left.

The morning of day 4 we went to the Newport aquarium. We were there right on time to meet a penguin.

about 2 second after this was taken Lily fell off the back.

Meltdown day 4

We found a candy store while we were out in the afternoon

bonus meltdown day 4

On day 5 we went to Kings Island and until then I didn't realize how spoiled we were from going to Dollywood. It was unbearably hot and the lines were super long. We probably should have waited until the girls were older.

some kids just can't handle a 45 minute line

ready to go home at lunchtime.

My second cousin and her daughter watched the
girls so we could have an AWESOME date night

Once we got back it was time for football season to start. The girls always have so much fun tailgating and going to the games (although after the first 2 home games Clara's not going anymore).

She looks like a feral child stuffing her face
with watermelon over a to go container

popcorn is a big hit with our family right now.

watching the UT vs UF game at Nana and Pop's

watching the band with Nana

this is a "Mommy! Get your hand out of my
popcorn before I cut you" look

Lily was SO excited to meet smokey.

Lily has started doing "pretend sleepovers" with her bff. It's everything that a regular sleepover is except they get picked up by 9:30-10:00pm.
so dramatic

Watching Cinderella

Lily got invited to her friend's dance class. She had so much fun and can't wait to do it again. I think if she takes dance it won't be until the spring. Fall time is just too crazy for us right now.
