October has been a very busy start to the McFalls holiday season. I can't believe that Lily turned 2. There were some tears shed at her birthday party but they were from her because her friends came over and played with her toys....we'll have to work on sharing. We've also celebrated Halloween and taken several trips around Knoxville.
THIS MONTH:
Lily Loves:
-being scared
-The UT Band (she calls them "my band" and cries when they leave the field)
- smoothies
-"Tennessee Go Vols" shirts
-The "scary witch" from the Wizard of Oz
-pumpkins and anything Halloween related
-her special "bubble soap" for bath time
-her tricycle
Lily Hates:
-not being allowed to help me every time I cook something or wash something in the sink
-having to ride in the stroller when we walk CJ
Favorite words
-"I out of bed....find you Mommy" (she's started getting out of bed at night and coming to find us. This is usually followed by a demand for food).
-"My see skawy wich" (she loves the wicked witch)
-"Masha Tatos" (Mashed potatoes)
The beginning of this month started off with a trip to the pediatrician when Lily shoved 4 small rubber plugs up her nose. Luckily 3 of them came out on her own. We're hoping that the trauma of having the last plug removed will discourage her from putting anything else up her nose. When I asked her where the plugs came from she said "my nose"....which is correct but not at all helpful.
We had a wonderful (and wet) Saturday tailgating with friends and watching the Vols beat Georgia. Smokey came by the tailgate and Lily actually got a picture with him. Once we got to the game we all took turns entertaining Lily.Luckily she fell asleep at halftime while watching the band and slept through the 3rd quarter.

We've done a few outings on the mornings that Lily doesn't go to daycare. So far we've been to a gymnastics place that does open gym for $5 per hour. Lily loved the trampoline, the foam pit, the rings and the balance beam. We've also been to the children's science museum (the MUSE) for story time and a craft. Lily liked the toy kitchen, the space ship and painting with dinosaur feet.
We also took a family outing to a pumpkin patch in Maryville. Lily got to go on a hayride and see cows before picking out a pumpkin. If Lily had her way we would have brought about 20 pumpkins home.
Lily requested a "scary witch" pumpkin. I showed her one of the pumpkin carving kits of a witch riding a broomstick (and she had no concept of what it was). In order to simplify our lives we decided to just carve a regular pumpkin face, paint it green and put a witch hat on it. She loved it. Overall Lily enjoyed supervising the carving but did not want any part of squishing her hands in the seeds.

We hosted a Halloween/ trick-or-treating/ football viewing party at our house on Halloween. Lily really got into trick-or-treating and enjoyed getting candy. She told us that every person dressed in any type of a mask and cape was a "scary witch". She's also enjoying that she get's to pick out a treat out of her candy bucket after dinner.
The next day we celebrated Lily's 2nd birthday party which was Sesame Street themed. When I brought her downstairs after nap she reacted like we a taken her to Disney World. She loved the decorations, all the food and playing with her friends.
