December Update (Lily 7, Clara 5)

December has now come and gone. It was a great month filled with snow, Christmas happenings and excitement. The girls were very excited for Christmas and even though it looked a little bit different this year we tried to make it fun. It was our first time for a white Christmas that I can remember since I've been in Tennessee and this year no one broke any bones which made it extra special. Since church was out of the question on Christmas eve we opted for sprinkling reindeer food on the front lawn, having breakfast for dinner, watching the movie Elf, wearing Christmas pjs, and eating popcorn. Unfortunately because of the snow my parents were unable to drive to our house on Christmas morning so instead we made the festivities last an extra day and moved out Christmas lunch to the next day. The girls spent a lot of time this month spending the night with my parents or Andy's mom since I had to work the weeks before Christmas and New Years.

Lily's December update:

Lily started off the month of December attending in person school before they switched everyone to virtual the week before Christmas. To my surprise Lily says that she enjoys in person school the best. Lily's big presents this year were Legos and an LOL Doll clubhouse. She also got a drawing light board for tracing, LOL dolls, a Lego turtle rescue and hip hop lessons. She has started building houses or stores for her LOL dolls or Barbie's out of cardboard boxes, hot glue and whatever we have in the craft bin. My favorite creation she made was a little cactus out of green craft beads to go on a shelf in her Barbie restaurant. I love her creativity but now we have a bunch of boxes around the house that I'm not allowed to get rid of. On the plus side she'll defiantly be ready for doing shoebox dioramas in school.....are those even still a thing in school? At bed time Lily always asks what my favorite/ least favorite parts of day were. (she's so thoughtful!)

Lily loves:

-building things out of cardboard and craft supplies
-legos
-dancing
-going to target

Clara's December Update:

The plus side of your baby having a Christmas birthday is that you're distracted by everything else going on that you forget to spend hours crying over the fact that your baby turned 5 years old. The same as every year Santa brought Clara a birthday gift that she got to open first. Clara's big presents were a "American Girl" doll and clothes/ accessories for the doll. She also received a (pretend) hair styling kit, Barbie's, Peppa Pig toys and gymnastics lessons. Thank goodness for those gymnastics lessons (that start this week) because Clara is constantly flipping or jumping her way around the room on the furniture. Andy and I try to guess what the girls will be when they grow up. For Cara our best guess is stunt woman or cheerleader. Clara often gets frustrated that she can't do the same things as Lily since she's not enough.

Clara loves:

-playing pretend
-playing dolls
-Barbie's
-sleeping in (between the two of them Clara is always the last to go to sleep)
-flipping/ jumping all over the living room furniture
-complaining about whatever food I've made until she tries it and LOVES it

Clara hates:
-being patient
-Lily being able to do things that she can't
