May proved to be a very busy month with all the usual weekly outings to gymnastics, storytime and walks around the neighborhood along with several trips to Maryville, Kingston and to the new playground. It's no wonder that when I put the girls down for a nap I'm extremely tempted to join them.

Early in the month we made the trip out to Maryville to celebrate my dad's birthday and mother's day. We normally go out early so the girls can go down for their usual nap times. Lily and Clara helped my mom make brownies (damage done: 2 girls with chocolate covered faces and 1 egg cracked on the kitchen floor). We also got to spend time our new nephew and Clara got to hold him. She can say his name "Hen-we" and loves to check on him....although she's really into baby dolls right now and maybe she just think he's a moving baby doll.

 "bebe Hen-we"
Clara does this ALL THE TIME. You won't be able to find
her but you can hear her making distressed noises

Lily painted boxes for her grandma's and a bird house for her great grandma for mothers day. She may have gotten more paint on her hands than on the gifts.

Also at the beginning of this month a park opened less than 2 minutes from our house. It's awesome and we've already been there 3 times.
Lily's favorite park game: Mommy is the spider
and Lily is the fly stuck in the web.

They look all cute and sweet....this was mid fight
about who would sit in the tube

We went to birthday party at one of those bounce house places. Lily was all over the place with the birthday girl and Clara wanted to go on everything. Thank goodness I didn't see anyone filming when I was trying to get out of a blow up obstacle course after I had to follow Clara in. Clara LOVED the huge blow up slide and squealed with laughter when I put her down it by herself the first time. The girl is a dare devil at 17 months....we're in trouble.

Clara stood at this table for a foor 10 minutes saying "Cake"

Lily insisted on standing right next to the birthday girl to open presents....
so only invite Lily to your kids party if you want her in EVERY SINGLE present picture.

A few days later we drove to Kingston to hunt Easter eggs....yes, you read that right. Our original plan to hunt eggs closer to Easter fell through due nasty weather and flooding. This year Lily know exactly what happening and doesn't need any help finding eggs.....Clara was just excited to wear her Easter basket like a purse.

We did a little water play on the back porch...anything to keep them entertained for longer than a few minutes where I get to sit with my feet up is a good thing.

One Saturday we ran errands with Daddy and went out for lunch at a local pizza place. I think it's pretty clear that both girls love pizza.

The next day we went to my brother and sister-in-laws church for my nephew's baptism. The church we go to has much more traditional music and Lily loved dancing to the guitars, drums, violin and banjo. After the baptism everyone went back to my brother and sister-in-laws house for lunch.

Lily dances to the beat of her own drum

The next day I walked into daycare and was told by one of the workers that all the kids from Clara's class were outside on the playground because Clara had thrown up everywhere.....great. So we weathered Clara first stomach bug (which wasn't too bad)....that several days later turned into Lily's tummy bug. Then a few days later Lily wrecked on her balance bike at the bottom of our driveway. She got a scrape on her knee and her chin and hasn't gone back down our driveway again. I suppose it was bound to happen sometime.
Clara finished throwing up and fell asleep on the floor. Lily was worried.

The next day on our walk we saw one of our neighbors that raises and shows bunnies. She let the girls hold and pet the baby bunnies. Lily, Clara and CJ were beside themselves. Lily asked if we could get a bunny. Clara tried to pick one up by its ears, and CJ (who was tied to the mailbox) thought they would make fantastic chew toys. I don't think a pet bunny is in our future.

"come on mom...I bet they make fun squeaky sounds and everything"

On the Wednesday before the Memorial Day weekend we drove Andy to the airport to fly to a fraternity brother's wedding in Texas. Thank goodness we had family coming into town for the weekend so the girls would be entertained....also it was great to see everyone. Lily disappeared for hours into the basement playing with my cousins and Clara was looked after by whatever adults were in the room that she wandered into.

Memorial day weekend wouldn't be complete without a 100 foot slip-n-slide. Lily wasn't thrilled at all and decided to spend help by spraying water on the slide. Clara LOVED it.....is anyone surprised? We didn't put either girl on the slip-n-slide from the top. Before heading home Saturday night we had a campfire and listened to my uncle play guitar.

I didn't get very many pictures of Lily....
she spent most of the time with the big kids
mesmerizing fire

Other pictures from this month:
They were playing a game called "mommy daddy".
The entirety of the game is sitting in our seats in the car.
Don't you know? All the cool kids wear 2 different shoes

Some kids shows are just too intense.....Little Einstein's for example

Clara took off her shirt and tried to put it on like pants
Lily drew a picture of her family.....Should I be concerned
that we don't have any heads.....or bodies?
