Life With a Baby on Board: August 2018

July....where did you go. It seemed like we sped through July. I need this summer to slow down….I don't like fall as much. This month we kept plenty busy with the 4th of July, visits with family, swimming and Clara's 2 1/2 birthday.

Lily's July Update:

Lily had a fun July. We spent a good amount of time at the pool and got better about going underwater accidentally. By the last day she was going down the smaller of the 2 slides by herself and not wanting us to catch her. She got to go with my mom to a 1 night overnight camp. She was excited about sleeping on the top bunk and my mom said she was a natural camper. She makes friends quickly and has learned how to introduce herself when meeting someone new. She was asking people to be her "best friend" before she knew their name.

Loves:

-hatchimals (teeny, tiny animal toys that exist solely for the purpose of me stepping on them at night)

-Barbie's

-the Hotel Transylvania movies

-camp

-soccer
-push pops

Hates:
-bedtime
-sharing with Clara

What's Lily saying:
- (While playing Barbie's with her friend) "Anyone with shoes can marry me".

Clara's July Update:
This month we celebrated Clara 2 1/2 year birthday and she was very clear about the theme (cars/ trucks/ diggers). While opening presents Clara would stand up after each present, clap and say "YAY". She was given a joke peanut can with a snake inside which she LOVES. She does make sure to warn people about the snake before they open the peanut can. She loves to swim, go down the slide and jump in the pool. She got mad at us for catching her when she jumped into the deep end of the pool.

-playing with a box of buttons in my sewing room
-cuddling with Daddy at bedtime

Hates:
-loud sounds
-the dark

What's Clara saying:
-(after a thunderstorm) "I FWEAKING OUT!"
-Me: "Good night Clara. I love you."
Clara "Peace be wif you"
-"Do you want some peanuts? (whipered) Deres a snake in it".

We went to watch fireworks at the big church down the road from our house. Andy met us there since he was coming from work.

The next day Lily came to work with me and my mom picked her up so they could go to overnight camp together. Lily had fun doing a hearing test on one of the students assigned to our office.

While Lily was at camp Clara and I went out to dinner.

The day Lily got back from camp with the 4th of July. We didn't have anything planned so we.....

invited the new neighbors over for dinner and they invited us over for fireworks.

We were invited to a neighbors birthday party at a gymnastics place.

The sticker charts have been going well at bedtime. Lily chose to go to a movie with Mommy as her reward. We went to see Hotel Transylvania 3 and both had a great time.

My sister and her family came to visit and we got to spend a lot of time with them.

Our community's fair was also at the end of the month. The girls loved playing games, meeting some baby animals and going in the science trailers from Oak Ridge.
