July Update (Lily 10, Clara 8)

July marks the last full month for us since the girls go back to school at the beginning of August (crazy I know but they’ve been out of school since the middle of May). This month we went out on my parents boat several times, celebrated birthdays and the 4th of July and got our nails done before going on our big trip to the Bahamas.

Our Bahamas trip was 1 week of snorkeling, swimming, drinking fruity drinks (the adults) and Shirley Temples (the kids), shopping and the girls running around the island with their cousins. We had been practicing snorkeling at the pool for several months, however National Fitness Center ignored my request to put in a saltwater wave pool for them to get the full experience. Nevertheless, the girls did fine and got to see a lot of fish, starfish, stingrays and nurse sharks (from the dock).

Lily July Update

While we were in the Bahamas Lily enjoyed building sand “aquariums” for conch and starfish, swim up bars, floating in a tube, jumping off the boat, Guana beach and Nippers (she says she wants to work there when she grows up).

Lily did not enjoy the conch fritters, jelly fish, sea lice, taking showers every night, sunscreen or sunburns.

Clara July Update

In the Bahamas Clara loved building sand “aquariums”, taking pictures and videos with my underwater camera, Tahiti beach, driving the boat, looking for hermit crabs, Pete’s Pub, diving for starfish and playing spoons.

Clara did not like the heat, jelly fish, sea grass, waves making the boat rock, sunscreen, waiting to get in the water (safety first... the propeller needs to be off, and the boat must be anchored first.)

June Update Lily 10, Clara 8)

The lazy days of summer have arrived. Thank goodness! Apart from the usual go to work/ go to Adventure Club we haven't done very much besides cooling off in various bodies of water. We had Clara's summer birthday party went out on the boat a few times, the girls washed my car and we watched/ celebrated Tennessee's baseball championship.

Lily June Update:

Lily is currently reading the Hunger Games (I don't care what she reads as long as she just keeps reading). Daily she will tell me who her favorite character and she flips back and forth between liking Gate and "the bread guy" (Peeta). I decided to implement family movie night where they watch a different movie from each decade. They kept asking me questions like "mommy did they have bicycles, chocolate, eletricity) when you were little. So far we have watched Hairspray and I could tell them when this movie takes place Nana and Pop were babies.

This month Lily likes:

The movie Hairspray

snakes (she really wants one)

watercolors

Clara June Update:

This month we celebrated Clara's birthday party with her friends. Originally she wanted to do a water play party at our house but our backyard is still torn up from when the back proch was build and I'm always wary of throwing parties at my house because if the weather is bad I then have a home full of sugared up 8 year olds. Instead we opted for a pool party at National Fitness Center along with pizza and cake/ ice cream. She had a great time at the party. In other news Clara has been reading, and enjoying, the Dory Fantasmagory series.

This month Clara likes:

The movies Hairspray and Spy Kids Armageddon
