7 Months Old

7 months old!!!! Lily is now 15 lbs 4oz and 25 in long.

THIS MONTH:

Lily Loves:
-playing pat-a-cake

-her stacking cups

-baby food and cheerios

-going for walks in her stroller

-music

-swimming

Lily Hates:

-having her nose suctioned out

This past month has been very, very busy. Lily started pureed food at the beginning of this month. After trying rice cereal and banana oatmeal she had sweet potatoes (with mixed reviews). Thank goodness she's gotten used to the texture and now loves meal time. So far she's had: sweet potatoes, pears, potatoes, carrots, peas and bananas. Next she gets to try apples and peaches!!

The first weekend in May we headed to Memphis with my mom to see my Grandma. She has been undergoing treatment for Lymphomia. Lily did great on the 6 hour drive to Memphis....the drive home was a little bit crazier. Thank God I remembered to buy an episode of Sesame Street on my iPad! Gran's house ended up being "baby central" because my sister and brother-in-law flew in from Brooklyn with their 11 week old twins. It was wonderful to see everyone (and meet my nieces for the first time). Rachel and I took the babies for a walk every afternoon and even took a trip to Target. If you think one adorable baby stops traffic try walking anywhere with 3 adorable babies.

How Lily FINALLY fell asleep back from Memphis....5 minutes before we got home.

A few days after we got back from Memphis Lily and I headed to my dad's, cousin's, son's wedding (huh?). Lily had so much fun listening to the band and being passed from relative to relative.

The day after the wedding was my first Mother's Day. I had completely forgotten about Mother's Day crafts from daycare/school and couldn't figure out how Lily got paint under her fingernails.

At the end of this month we headed down to Chattanooga for my brother-in-law's birthday. It was great to see everyone, eat good food, watch the kids swim and get Lily on her first trampoline.

After the birthday party we drove from Chattanooga to Maryville. We spent the rest of the weekend at my parents house. Saturday night Lily got to swim at Nana and Pops. On Sunday we attended Swinestock which is hosted every year by my parent's neighbor, Herman, and includes good food and lots of music.

6 Months Old

6 months old? ALREADY??? ! Lily is now 14 lbs 8oz and 25in long. She need to stop growing so fast.

THIS MONTH:

Lily Loves:
-blowing bubbles/ raspberries (aka showering us in spit)

-rolling over (only from back to front)

-playing with water

-grabbing cjs fur
-watching cj chase toys
-talking/ squealing

-skype

-gnawing on anything she can fit in her mouth

Lily Hates:

-being on her tummy for too long

Our big news this month is that Lily has learned to roll. She now rolls from back to front. For now she only rolls left (affirming our belief that she'll be left handed). Even though she is very good at rolling she still feels the need to wake up at 3am to practice (and cry when she can't roll back). It may be annoying but it's hard to be upset with anyone who looks so proud of their rolling accomplishments at 3am. This has prompted the placement of some rolled blankets under her fitted
sheet which act as buffers and keep her from rolling at night.

Another bit of news is that Lily now enjoys story time. It should be noted that she likes story time a lot more if she's been fed first.

The day that Lily turned 5 months we headed out to my parent's house in Maryville to spend some time with Bill, a friend visiting from Gainesville.

This month we went to a wedding for Andy's friend/coworker. Lily did fine during the ceremony and reception, despite only having a short 30 minute nap before the wedding. After the wedding we dropped Lily off at the UT orange vs. white game with my parents, who kept her overnight, while we went to a hotel downtown for a wedding after party.

On Easter we went to church, most of which was spent getting up and walking around with Lily when she got wiggly. After church we stopped by our house to quickly change clothes before driving down to Kingston to visit the McFalls side of the family. It was so much fun to watch our nieces and nephews hunt and dye eggs. It was also nice because Lily's cousins entertained her for hours.

She got to open her Easter basket (a day late) which included stacking cups, a teether, a bunny, a hair bow, an egg book and bubbles. CJ was more interested in the bubbles than Lily was.

Very recently we have started Lily on solid food (aka very watery rice cereal). Once she got the hang of not letting the cereal drip out of her mouth she did great. She likes to steal the spoon and chew on it.

Lily took her first ride on my parent's boat. She was less that thrilled with the bulky infant life jacket but she did enjoy helping Pop drive the boat.

If looks could kill Nana would be dead for putting her in the life vest.

Lily's very best friend is CJ. She will smile and giggle when he comes over to sniff or lick her and belly laugh when he chases ice cubes across the floor. It's great to have great source of entertainment at home. She also likes to grab his fur and we're working on petting CJ and not grabbing.
