July/August Update (Lily 8, Clara 6)

While looking at the title for this post you might be asking yourself. Did Katie forget to post for July. The answer is yes....yes I did. I'm not sure what to blame my mental hiccup on.....was I too busy with the start of school? Was Mercury in retrograde? Did I have temporary amnesia? We may never know. In July we had a lot of family visit for the 4th of July (and a surprise anniversary party for my parents). The party went off without a hitch. Along with the usual summer fun of the pool and slip-n-slide we added the foam machine (which the girls gave pop for father's day). The kids would run throuh the foam and look like giant cottonballs going down the slip-n-slide. 

Lily's July/August Update:

In July Lily had some dental work done which the help of laughing gas. Lily did not disappoint when  she told us that her whole body felt numb and then accused the dentist of "stealing her feet" (don't worry they were still there....she took off her shoes to check). Lily also started Karate in August. She is always so excited to learn new blocks and punches. She needs to be reminded after each class that you don't get to return to karate if you use the moves on your sister. After her 1st meeting she kept asking me to "attack her" so she could use the moves she learned. So far Lily is enjoying her 2nd year in 2nd grade. She loves her teacher and is SO much more confident this year complared to last year. 

Lily Loves:

Lily Doesn't Like:

-timed math tests

Clara's July/August Update:

In July Clara was able to get her pet, a Syrian hamster she named Starry. Starry is gradually warming up to us and even sat on Clara's hand to nibble a treat.....right before he bit her finger. Clara said it hurt her finger and her feelings. Poor Starry Clara is enjoying 1st grade although she wishes that there were no weekends so she could see her school friends everyday (I'll remind her of this when she's a teenager). 

Clara Loves:

-Anytime she has to stop playing
