May 2024 (Lily 10, Clara 8)

You know the saying... April showers bring May flowers that Katie will attempt not to kill within a week. This May we were so busy as the end of the school year lead straight into the first few weeks of summer that were filled with camps to keep the kids entertained and minimize the cries of "I'm bored!". We celebrated Mother's Day, the last day of school, watched some movies on the porch went to a few birthday parties and the girls discovered watercolor painting and cross stitching.

Lily May Update

This month was Lily's last at her elementary school (goes from K-3). Next year she will be attending the intermediate school (4-7) that is across the parking lot. True to form Lily does not like big changes and was upset on the last day of school during their "clap out" (The younger students and parents line the hallways and clap for the 3rd graders as they march down the hallway). Since then Lily has adjusted, maybe not to going to a new school, but at least to enjoying the summer. Since the end of the school year both of the girls have gone to a basketball camp at the local high school and a soccer camp at UT. We traveled down towards Chattanooga to celebrate their cousin's birthdays, swimming, kayaking and getting dive bombed by cicadas.

This month Lily loves:

-swimming

-cross stitching

-water colors

-books by Katherine Applegate

Clara May Update:

As a parent you know that your kids don't come with a schedule. One Saturday morning I was lying in bed....enter Clara....wearing a dress made out of 2 plastic grocery bags. No where on my schedule for that Saturday did I plan on modeling the latest in grocery bag fashion. Clara was also sad for her last day of school because she would miss her friends and teacher but she has also adjusted to the slightly calmer pace of summer. She has really enjoyed watching movies on the porch and going out of the boat/ tubing.

This month Clara Loves:

-watercolor painting

-watching her iPad

-the movie Holes

-going out on the boat

-cake

-swimming (Clara is helping me make this list...can you tell?)

-exercising

-hamging out with CJ
