Well new year, new us right....right.....hello? We're enjoying the after holiday down time. When you think about it November/ December is just repeatedly dressing your children up for a fancy parties with the hopes that the other party goers will say how great your children are and ignore that they're yelling and trying to karate chop each other. We're also impatiently awaiting the arrival of spring. Even though I was born in January it's (along with February) my least favorite month. Luckily we had some of fun activities to keep us busy in January including birthday parties, dinner and games with friends, visits with family and a Father Daughter girl scout dance.
Lily's January Update
This month Lily's 2 month long basketball season began. Even though her team is 0-4 she has a wonderful attitude and is really enjoying it. After her first game she told me "I never knew losing could be so much fun". Lily seems to like team sports where she can be aggressive and basketball fits the bill. This month Lily also increased the AR book level that she can read. This has come with some anxiety because since she is reading longer books she doesn't feel like she is accomplishing as much as her classmates.
Lily Loves
Playing board games (I got 13 Dead End Drive for my birthday and the girls love it)
basketball
reading (Classroom 13 books)
What Lily is saying
"Mommy are you putting on fish legged leggings?" (fish net stockings).....(I was not)
"FINE! I'll play but I'm going to kill all of your characters!!" (13 dead end drive game)
Clara's January Update
When family came to visit in the middle of January both of the girls got to go shopping with my aunt and teenage cousins. Clara came home with a Starbucks drink (she informed everyone it was her first ever), a shopping bag slung over her shoulder and striking poses. Clara is still really liking school , her teacher and friends. Recently she was very excited that she was able to hold her hamster, Starry. It's a big deal since when we got him he would bite and charge at us when we tried to touch him. Apparently he heard the quote "don't bite the hand that gives you tiny yogurt treats".
Clara loves
holding Starry
playing board games
playing pretend
building forts
What Clara is saying
"Mommy what gender is my cereal?"
"Who built the pyramids....it was aliens wasn't it."
