Life With a Baby on Board: July 2018

I LOVE summer. I love that the backyard becomes another room. I love not having to bundle up and then keep track of jackets, scarves, gloves etc. I love the ease of playtime (ex: here are some buckets full of water.....enjoy). Needless to say that we are enjoying our summer time. The big exciting news this month was the opening of the community pool. The girls LOVE swimming. Lily was excited that she had grown in the past year and could now touch a little deeper in the pool. Clara has gone down the slide at least 80 times in the two or three trips to the pool in June.

We also started doing charts for bedtime/ bath time because mommy was tired of losing her ever loving mind every night. For Clara and Lily the time after bath is the kid equivalent of (I can only imagine) an acid trip....all they want to do run around naked and screaming and apparently they suffer from temporary hearing loss because they don't listen to a thing I say. Do you know how hard it is to dry off a child while another child tackles the first child like its Monday night football? I do....it's not pretty. So we started a weekly sticker chart which has helped the girls to listen and helped mommy to only lose her mind every 3rd night.

Lily's June Update:

Lily is silly and sassy. She likes to follow me around copying everything I say. She loves watching movies and I can't wait to introduce her to some of my favorite movie musicals. She loves making new friends but generally forgets to ask what their names are (she still considers them her best friends even without knowing their names.

What's Lily Saying:
-"Mommy I want to have a Mowgli birthday party.....we can play pin da underpants on Mowgli"

-"Mommy look....I got taller this year" (while standing in the pool)

Clara's June Update:

Clara is at the "I want to do everything myself even though mommy is quietly dying inside because it's taking me 12,987,492 minutes to buckle myself in the carseat" stage. She is getting very independent but still loves cuddles and sitting on my lap to read books. She loves the water and sliding into the pool.

What's Clara saying:
-"Can you say me that?" (translation: "That thing you just said to Lily....can you say that to me")

We went on a long weekend family getaway in June when Andy had to be in Chattanooga for 2 consecutive weeks. During the weekend we got an Airbnb house and joined him. We went to the aquarium, zoo and children's museum.

After the zoo the plan was to go to a fountain and let the girls play. A massive thunderstorm sent us running and we ended up at the girls first movie in a movie theater (Incredibles 2). Lily loved the movie and watched the entire thing. Clara loved the popcorn and (almost) ate the entire thing. Clara also needed occasional breaks to run up and down the hallway outside the theater.
