Like every other kid the girls were looking forward to December which brought class parties, a break from school, a trip to Memphis, presents and New Year's Eve. Santa left both of the girls big presents in Maryville because they were either too big or had too many pieces. The girls got their second Covid shot at the beginning of December and did great. The girls are both still enjoying dance (Lily) and gymnastics (Clara) as well as girl scouts (they were in the Blount Co X-mas parade with Girl Scouts). We celebrated New Year’s Eve with my parents, my sister-in-law, niece and nephew. Since none of the kids are either too young or not great at telling time we celebrated NYE at 9:30 by watching the Sydney, Australia countdown/ fireworks on YouTube. The adults kept saying “man this night is just flying by”. I know it won’t be able to get away with that for too much longer.
Lily December Update:
This month Lily was super excited about time off from school and getting to sleep in. This year she asked for a Rainbow high car, Harry Potter Legos, craft supplies. She received those things as well as a Harry Potter bath towel and a loom kit for making rubber band bracelets. From Santa she was excited to get a Harry Potter castle set of Legos and a Harry Potter board game. Since Santa left presents from him in Maryville Lily’s favorite present that she opened on Christmas morning was a label maker. She then proceeded to label everything she could including peoples' phones and cups, the wall, her grandfather’s face and her uncle’s butt...things were clearly getting out of hand. At the beginning of the month both of the girls were in the Blount Co parade with girl scouts. Lily announced that she was not a fan of being in parades because she said it was boring and she didn’t get to pick up the candy that was being thrown.
This month Lily loves:
-Loud House
-The Owl Diary book series
-her cousins Allie and Erin
-label makers
-squishies
Not a fan of:
-being in parades
-playing with Clara 24/7
Clara December Update:
Clara really enjoyed her first experience of elementary school Christmas although she was super excited about sleeping in. When we went to Memphis Clara asked “are we there yet” before we were even on the interstate.....it was a long drive aided by snacks, movies on the van DVD player and bathroom breaks. Clara is still not a fan of playing by herself when I’m busy or Lily wants to be alone. To make things worse Clara can’t tell time yet and will say thing like “she only played with me for 5 minutes” when Lily has played with her for 1 ½ hours. To combat this we came up a list of all the thing Clara likes doing and figured out which of those she could do by herself. We’ll see how it goes. Clara, like Lily, loves the label maker. She loves it so much that she used us an entire roll of labels in a few hours. This year Clara asked for Barbies and Rainbow High dolls. She also got some kinetic sand and a Barbie bath towel. Santa brough Clara a gymnastics bar and a mat. She is constantly doing front flips on it but is frustrated that she can’t figure out a pull over (doing a backwards flip over the bar from a standing position). We also celebrated Clara’s 6th birthday on Christmas. Like last year Santa brough her a birthday present and we had cake and ice cream.
This month Clara loves:
-Label makers
-flipping
-Clara chose the book Matilda for us to read at night
Not a fan of:
-when we’re doing other things and can’t play with her
-waking up early
