October Update (Lily 7, Clara 4)

How in the world did October go by so fast?? Didn't I just write the blog for September? This month we were able to spend some time together as a family. The girls enjoyed the cooler weather and being able to spend more time outside without sweating to death. I'm saddened to report that the very brief official driveway sport of Scooter Freeze Tag was abolished after two of the participants ended up with injuries in a 10 minute span. Fans will remember how Chaos Clara and Lily the Lightening Bold retired at the top of their game.

We spent a weekend with Andy's family at a cabin in the Smokey's. The indoor pool, hot tub, firepit, game room and pool table ensured that everyone had a good time and were worn out at the end of each day. The four of us were able to sneak away for part of the day on Saturday for a trip to the Ripley's Aquarium and to meet a penguin named Noel. It was awesome and very educational. However, if you ask the girls what they learned about penguins they will tell you that penguins poop every 5 minutes and they can aim their poop up to 4 feet behind them at anyone who ticks them off. So avoid getting on a penguins bad side unless you are wearing tall boots.

Lily October Update:

Lily has been thriving at school. She loves her teacher has friends in class. We have had a few minor setbacks since the beginning of the year but we've gotten through them and Lily is doing great. We celebrated Lily's 7th birthday this month. Due to Covid-19 we opted for a small, lego themed, driveway party. The party included a scavenger hunt, painting pumpkins, decorating cookies, a hanging donut eating contest, a toilet paper mummy (Nana, Pop and Clara) contest and a piƱata. Lily had a great time and I'm glad we have a good memory her birthday in this crazy year. This year Lily wanted to dress up as Pippi Longstocking for Halloween. "Wow" I hear you say. "Has she read the books? Has she seen the movies?". To that I answer nope....not a one. Apparently the knowledge that her hair is red and sticks out and that I dressed as Pippi one year for Halloween as all she needed to pick Pippi as her costume choice.

Lily Loves:
-Emily's Wonder Lab on Netflix (If you have younger kids this is a MUST!)
-Bluey (another must she show....I seriously identify with the parents)
-Freeze Tag
Favorite Halloween candy: M&Ms, Reese's, Whoppers

Lily Hates:
-Getting hurt playing scooter freeze tag

Clara October Update:

Clara is wearing Andy and me out. She is attitude and loudness at all times. She demands firsts then asks when we remind her to use her manners. There is a reason we call her storm cloud and little lion. On the flip side she is incredibly sweet and loves to snuggle. She always tells us that she had the "BEST DAY EVER" when I pick her up from daycare. She loves to be a handy helper and take things to Andy. She loves to cook, swing and read books. This year for Halloween Clara dressed up  Rainbow Dash (a character from My Little Pony). She was thrilled that I used chalk to "dye" her hair rainbow colors and almost had a meltdown when I insisted that she wear pants and a long sleeve shirt under her costume.

Clara Loves:

-Bluey
-jumping on the trampoline
-Freeze tag

Clara hates:
-long pants and long sleeve shirts

What the girls are saying this month:

Clara "I am so beautiful. I am the most beautiful! When I am older I will be more beautiful"
Lily "I don't know Clara you might look like mommy. Her skin used to be smooth but now her face is all lumpy." (remind me why I keep these kids around?????)
