February Update (Lily 8, Clara 6)

I know the saying goes that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. I think they got the wrong month (at least for East Tennessee). We started the month with snow and sledding and ended the month with time sunny days at the park wearing short sleeves. Frankly I'm just excited to put away all the heavy jackets, scarves, gloves and hats.

Lily February Update:

This month Lily decided that she doesn't want to take hip hop dance anymore. She's expressed an interest in basketball so we made trip to a UT women's basketball game. She leaned over to me and pointed to the court and said "I'm going to play down there".....so if it actually happens you heard it here folks. This month Lily's grade had a "Market Day". Each 2nd grader came up with a good or service that their classmates, the 3rd graders and the teachers could buy (with tickets). Lily and Nana made 3 kinds of brownies that Lily sold. Lily's favorite things she got from market day were a stress ball, a cake pop, a painting of a turtle and a sticker of a hedgehog.

Lily Loves:
-warmer weather
-Dogman books
-building forts
-weaving (they're learning how in art class)
-Memphis (her "boyfriend")
-the color blue

Lily Hates:
-waiting for spring break
-school

Clara's February update:

This month I took the girls to Target to spend their Christmas money. Clara decided on a play sink that has actual water that comes out of the sink. She brought it home, un-boxed it and put it in the bathroom sink...which I think defeats the purpose but at least there's not water all over the floor. Clara has decided that instead of gymnastics she would like to try cheer (she certainly has the energy and the lung power for it). Right now Clara is the queen of asking for things at the absolute wrong moment. It makes me feel terrible that I always have to say no but 10 minutes before walking out the door is not the best time to paint, bedtime time is not playtime and when I'm trying to workout it not the ideal time to pull out an (adult help required) craft.

Clara Loves:
-playing games
-building forts
-doing makeup
-popcorn
-purple and blue

Clara hates:
-waiting for spring break
-Lily (I asked Lily what Clara didn't like and this was her answer)
-being woken up

playing with baby dolls in the bathroom

trip to the Muse children's museum

I used to be able to pee without angry people bothering me

a cold night of selling girl scout cookies

it was so cold that Lily said "huddle together
for warmth....now everyone breathe on my face"
