27 Weeks

How far along: 27 weeks

Baby size: The size of a rutabaga. Around 13.6-14.8 inches long and weighs 1.5-2.5 lbs. On the "dad" section of thebump.com it compares the baby's size at week 27 to a kid's lunch box.

Bellybutton in or out: In

Maternity clothes: Yep. Many thanks to my Aunt Anne for taking me maternity clothes shopping in Memphis.

Symptoms: Never ending hunger, sometimes it's hard to catch my breath if I'm lying down, an occasional contraction (nothing to worry about) and last night I had my first pregnancy nose bleed.

Names: "Little Bit"

Gender: Not finding out.

Movement: All the time. Except when my little cousins wanted to feel it kick.....then it wouldn't move at all.

Sleep: Apparently I dream entire Lifetime movies.

Food aversions: anything too spicy

Food cravings: anything that's bad for me....I just don't feel full for very long after eating fruit or veggies.

Best moment(s) this week: chocolate cake for my mom's birthday, visiting Memphis for Andy's belated 30th birthday and getting our first baby gift!

What I miss: nothing.

What I'm looking forward to: the baby shower, our childbirth classes (the first one is on Saturday) and my next doctor's appointment.

What's going on with the baby: The baby is practicing inhaling and exhaling with its rapidly developing lungs. It's official: the baby is showing brain activity and it's brain will keep on getting more complex.

26 Weeks

How far along: 26 weeks

Baby size: The size of a head of lettuce. Around 13.6-14.8 inches long and weighs 1.5-2.5 lbs. On the "dad" section of thebump.com it compares the baby's size at week 26 to a kid's lunch box.

Bellybutton in or out: In

Maternity clothes: I've given in to the belly band and maternity shorts. The maternity shorts are SOOOOO comfortable I informed Andy I might continue wearing them post pregnancy.

Symptoms: Heartburn, hunger, pregnancy brain and I almost made it 26 weeks into the pregnancy without having an emotional crying breakdown over something tiny.....stupid hormones.

Names: "Little Bit"

Gender: Not finding out.

Movement: Oh yeah! Andy could see my belly jump from across the room the other day.

Sleep: I'm still sleeping ok but I wake up with a stiff back.

Food aversions: pickles, Powerade and Cheez-its.

Food cravings: vanilla wafers, cookies 'n cream ice cream bars and the Chedder's Monster Cookie...which is so amazing that I've had dreams about it.

Best moment(s) this week: catching up with sorority sisters at a friend's wedding shower, watching my belly move all the time and getting the invitation for my baby shower (it is SO cute).

What I miss: nothing.

What I'm looking forward to: Getting to visit some family, the baby shower and taking childbirth/infant safety classes in August.

What's going on with the baby: Little Bit's eyes are forming and its eyes will soon start to open. (Eyelashes are now grown too.) The baby is getting it's immune system ready for life on the outside by soaking up your antibodies. Little bit is taking breaths, too. They're of amniotic fluid, not air, but it's still good practice.

25 Weeks

How far along: 25 weeks

Baby size: The size of a cauliflower. Around 13.6-14.8 inches long and weighs 1.5-2.5 lbs. On the "dad" section of thebump.com it compares the baby's size at week 25 to a kid's lunch box.

Bellybutton in or out: In

Maternity clothes: Looser shirts and work pants with a rubber band to keep them buttoned.

Symptoms: Heartburn. Andy brought me some fudge which gave me the worst heartburn I have ever had. The fudge was so yummy I think the heartburn was it was worth it.

Names: Baby: "Little Bit", Me: "Bit" and CJ: "Furry Bit".  After I told Andy the baby is the size of a lunchbox this week he has been calling it 'Lunchbox'....and since you carry your lunchbox in a backpack apparently my new nickname is 'Backpack'.

Gender: Not finding out.

Movement: I can actually see my belly move when the baby kicks.

Sleep: Since I can't sleep on my stomach or back when I wake up my back hurts. Boo

Food aversions: As of lunch time on Monday I don't like the smell of cucumbers (what a weird aversion).

Food cravings: Anything that is bad for me.

Best moment(s) this week: Fireworks with the McFalls side of the family, book club and my latest Doctor appointment (I'm gaining weight at a good rate and my glucose test was normal!)
What I miss: nothing.

What I'm looking forward to: A friend's wedding shower this weekend and getting to visit some family next week.

What's going on with the baby: It's enjoying its new sense of equilibrium (it now knows which way is up and which is down). The baby is growing more fat and hair too. (Which would explain the persistent heartburn).

24 Weeks

How far along: 24 weeks

Baby size: The size of a cantaloupe. (Note to self: remind Andy to pick up some cantaloupe at the store.) Around 10.5-11.8 inches long and weighs 12.7-20.8 oz. On the "dad" section of thebump.com it compares the baby's size at week 24 to a  baseball mitt.

Bellybutton in or out: In

Maternity clothes: On Sunday night I went through my closet and packed up all of the "pre-pregnancy" clothes that I just don't feel comfortable in anymore and added some maternity clothes to my wardrobe.

Symptoms: Hunger and heartburn (who knew that Cheez-Its and watermelon could cause heartburn??)

Names: "Little Bit".

Gender: Not finding out.

Movement: Little Bit's favorite hobby is tap dancing on my bladder....right after I've had a large glass of water....and a bathroom is not easily accessible.

Sleep: YAY Unisom!!

Food aversions: is the chicken fried or is it finely shredded? Then it's ok. Pickles don't taste as good as they used to.

Food cravings: peanut butter, hamburgers, French fries, hard boiled eggs and any type of dessert.

Best moment(s) this week: All of the pictures are up in the nursery and we made a decision about a daycare!!!

What I miss: nothing.

What I'm looking forward to: baby shower, fireworks this Saturday with Andy's family and book club (This month we read a book about the body farm....which surprisingly didn't gross me out at all).

What's going on with the baby: Its see-through skin is gradually becoming more opaque and it's got a new pink glow, thanks to the small capillaries that have recently formed.

23 Weeks

How far along: 23 weeks

Baby size: The size of a grapefruit. Around 10.5-11.8 inches long and weighs 12.7-20.8 oz. On the "dad" section of thebump.com it compares the baby's size at week 23 to a  baseball mitt.

Bellybutton in or out: In

Maternity clothes: not really. I've had to switch to my looser work shirts. No more button down shirts for me.

Symptoms: Hunger. This week pregnancy brain made me forget to close the gas tank on my car after I was done pumping gas. I have also become 'digestively challanged'. Oh goody (note the scarcasm).

Names: "Little Bit".

Gender: Not finding out.

Movement: Yes especially after I eat or I'm trying to sleep.

Sleep: Still ok but a little more uncomfortable. I can't sleep on my stomach anymore.

Food aversions: ehh...I still don't really like chicken but I can eat it.

Food cravings: Many thanks to my mother in law who surprised me with banana pudding. Other cravings include: fruit, hard boiled eggs, cake and ice cream (yay Andy brought me a Sonic Blast with Reese's pb cups last night).

Best moment(s) this week: More registering with Jenny and Katie, Megan's gender reveal party and relaxing on the 4th of July.

What I miss: nothing.

What I'm looking forward to: hanging the pictures up in the nursery, dinner with my family on Monday night and the baby shower in August.

What's going on with the baby: Its face is fully formed now -- it just needs a little extra fat to fill it out. The baby is listening to your voice and your heartbeat -- and even to loud sounds like cars honking and dogs barking.
