It’s official! We survived all 125 days of January including a week off of school for weather, a visit from some fire fighters, a dramatic Roomba named for a drunk house elf, and approximately 768 sibling fights due to cabin fever. This month the girls started their weekly basketball games. So far each team has a record of 3-1 (Lily: Purple Panthers, Clara: White Tigers). They are both really enjoying it and I’m learning a lot about basketball which means I’m sitting near my dad and saying “What was that?” or “what does ____ mean?” the entire game. If they keep playing basketball for a few more years I’ll have all the lingo down. The 2 big things this month were the snow/ ice that shut down Knoxville and the surrounding counties and taking the girls to see the Harlem Globetrotters and Wicked in the same week.
Lily's January update:
Every day during our snow and ice the girls would wait on pins and needles until I got a call or text from the school saying that they were closed the next day. The pros were always: no school, sleeping in, watching movies and playing in the snow. The con was that everyday the girls spent in the house together was one day closer to them completely melting down or starting a WWF match in the living room. Luckily we were able to get into Knoxville to see the Harlem Globetrotters and Wicked later that week. This trip to the Tennessee theater marked the first time that Lily didn’t cry when a show was over because we didn’t get to meet the actors.

Clara's January update:
The girls both loved going sledding at the mall near our house that has a huge hill. At the beginning of the week the girls spent several nights at my parents’ house. They came back home on tuesday afternoon and Clara promptly tried to start a kitchen fire by heating up Kraft mac and cheese without any water. The good news: the smoke detectors work and the girls (after hearing the smoke detector) started crawling out of the house. The bad news: the microwave still smells like smoke. Surprisingly, this was not why the fire fighters were at our house.....that was because we smelled gas in the basement. In January Clara liked sledding, working on products to sell for Market Day at her school, and watching K.C. Undercover.
